I am wanting to try both the gf/cf diet and super-nu-thera on my children, the only problem is financially we can only afford to do one for right now. Im not sure which one to do because I feel that they would have good results from doing both. Does anyone out there have any recommendations on which one I should do with my children right now. Thank you!!
GFCF is not any more expensive than eating with the two, if you make most of it. The added expense comes if you buy the pre-made items from the specialty stores. I found that trying to "imitate" what they are craving is a dismal failure- both homemade and bought
versions. Eggs and sausage and some fruit for breakfast with water to drink. Rice Krispies with rice milk and a bit of honey. Hamburger patty with fries and fruit with clear gatorade to drink for lunch. Chicken and veggies/sweet potato, fruit and flavored non-calorie Sam's choice water for dinner. Water is great - the more the better.
Silk Soy yogurt/fruit/rice cakes with jam or peanut butter for snacks....etc.etc. focus on what can be eaten, not what cannot-it is much easier. Expect the first 72 hours or so to be pure misery, due to withdrawal.

Have you ran into any problems with the diet at school? Do you pack your childs lunch, or do they provide a gf/cf diet for them? Do you have any problems explaining this to the teachers? Thank you.
Hi- The school is mandated by law to accomodate his dietary restrictions with suitable alternatives to what is being served to the other kids- it is in his IEP! My son is no longer GFCF, he is only CF- as is our entire family. My other kids have a 504 plan specifically due to their food intolerances, and they must also accomodate them. The teachers were all given a copy of the letter from Dr Megson stating that why they cannot have dairy, Vit A palmitate, dyes & artificials and why ( they have a G1-2 alpha protein defect that makes them unable to properly break down/digest this stuff).
