This morning I woke up with my eye watery and irritated, so I went to look in the bathroom mirror, expecting to see an eyelash or similar on my eye. Nothing of the sort, actually - there's a long (maybe half inch) swollen bulge stick out of the outer side of my left eyeball that doesn't hurt, but rubs against my eyelids and feels really strange. Since I've been up for a while, the redness has gone away and it's less watery, but I've been searching the web for an hour or so now and haven't found anything that accurately describes this symptom and how serious it may be. Since it doesn't hurt, I'm assuming it will just go away in a day or two and won't lead to anything more problematic, but I'd definitely be glad to hear anyone else's comments on anything similar they've experienced or heard of. I had a similar experience a few years ago, and still have it to this day. I noticed on the white of one eye what looked to me like a small uneven shaped while lump which wasn't sore or itchy, but was uncomfortable! When I would move my head while keeping my eyes looking straight ahead, when this lump would come in contact with the edge of my eye it would pucker slightly like your skin when you scrunch it up, but on a much smaller level. I went to an eye specialist who said it was allergies!!! I've never suffered from allergies in my life, but he said allergies can irritate the "skin" of the eye. I didn't know your eyes had "skin", but apparently they do. He said it was harmless, but eye drops can be soothing. I still have it on and off since then, I just dont worry about it anymore and its never gotten worse.
