I started going to a gym about 6 weeks ago. I go 5 nights a week and walk on the treadmill every night on a fast paced walk for 30 minutes every night. I'm not noticing any real weight loss. In fact, I weigh more than I did when I started. I also lifting weights heavily. I am 6'2" and am weighing 228 lbs. I have a bit of a pot belly and I want it gone, but I'm not noticing anything. I don't eat junk food and try to stick with a healthy food intake. How long til I start to notice things visibly? Is it just a case of not noticing because I see it everyday?

At the risk of sounding repetative, I'm going to say that if the scale doesn't read lower, it doesn't mean you aren't making progress. If you exercise, you are gaining muscle. Muscle is heavier than fat.
To get more accurate reports on your progress, take measurements around your waiste, belly, legs, and arms.
You'll probably gain weight if you are lifting. For weightloss you need to take in less calories than you burn.
