I am at almost three weeks with my new dentures. The mouth sores are almost gone. Finally last night I could eat. Had three pieces of Pizza :bouncing: I think I over did it though lol. Mouth was pain free so I was going to town lol, well after such a soft diet for the past couple of weeks my stomach wasnt ready for that much food. Had a belly ache all night lol. Oh well I will take it a little slower today lol. Dentist appt on Monday cant wait to see what all he has to say about how I am healing. Will post again. And everybody else keep posting. Sure does help being able to compare how we are all doing. Sincerely Dena :D

I am a 'newbie' too - just over 3 weeks with my upper denture....and I've come a long way since mashed potatoes and pudding those first few days...
every day seems to get a little bit easier. The trickiest part is biting with my front teeth. Are you using an adhesive??? I find that helps alot too... :D

used an adhesive one day, my dentist told me to only use it on the palate part because of the open sockets. I did that and didn't notice enough of a difference in fit to keep using it. I might later when I start eating more and more foods. At this time I am cutting into smaller pieces to put into my mouth. Havent really bitten with the front yet only because I have a healing sore right in front, dont want to risk making it worse. I guess I am doing pretty good I will have had mine three weeks on Monday and dont notice any difference in fit yet. Havent had any relines or anything. Stays in place so far. Hope it stays that way for a while lol. :D Dena

Dena,
I started using adhesive (per my dentist) after my stitches were out at the end of the first week. The immediate had loosened up quite a bit since the swelling had gone down alot by then. I find the powder adhesive works the best for me - much less messy than the others...you're lucky that yours still fit pretty tight especially since you haven't had a relign yet, mine were so loose at the end of the first week, I got nervous! I had my first relign at exactly 3 weeks and what a huge difference in the comfort and the fit - I don't have to use adhesive since the relign, however, it gives me a certain comfort level. I've been lucky in only having one sore spot on my palette, and the Sea Bond pads helped with that - they almost act like a bandaid until you can get to the dentist to have it adjusted. There are still alot of things I can't eat....or maybe I should say, I'm afraid to try...but I'm getting there. I'm just happy to be eating solid food - although....the pounds that I lost those first few weeks were a nice plus to getting the denture!!! I expect that as I get more and more comfortable, I will be back to my 'fighting weight' :D
