i have 3 lumps in my left breast,2 that have gotten a little bigger.occasionally i will wake up at night and be either on my back or my left side and when i start to roll over my breast will be numb and it feels like someone is ripping my chest apart.my dr said from just feeling my breast he thought they were just cysts.i finally got him to do an ultrasound and it didnt show any lumps at all.i have had nipple discharge also and bad pain.why would the us not show anything when i and my dr have felt the lumps?now my dr wont consider any more test since the us didnt show anything. i just need some advice. thanks and GOD BLESS tammy

Well an ulterasound takes pictures of the tissue. Certain lumps may not show up, like cysts and limpomas (begine fatty tumors).etc..

However, I don't know why your doctor did not send you for a mamogram at the very least.

I would insist more testing, just to put your mind at ease. If your doctor refuses, I would go seek another opinion. Good luck. :)

I have had 3 lumps removed and none of them showed up on any tests my dr did. My dr and I both dont want to take any chances so we opt to have them removed as I am in a high risk range for breast cancer. I have found a new lump and we are watching it for now but it will come out also. I think all breast lumps belong in a JAR no in my breast's...

I would definitely get a mammogram. I have problems with breast cysts also. They have always shown up on the mammogram and then they take a closer look at them with an ultrasound. Mine have always shown on ultrasound too. It probably is nothing but I would find a doctor who is willing to find out what is going on for your peace of mind. Good luck!
