Hello
I am from Singapore where MMR vaccinations are compulsory for all children.

As my first child is autistic, I am looking into giving my 2nd (now 6 months old) separate vaccines instead of MMR.

Can I ask whether any of you have done that or where it is available? My doctor tells me that I cannot get it anywhere around Singapore but I am wondering whether it is available easily in the US or UK.

Thanks.

The single vaccinations are available in the UK. Holborn Medical Services do them.Tel: 02074057544. www.holbornmedicalservices.com. (http://www.holbornmedicalservices.com.) They are quite costly but nothing is too costly as long as it is safe for the child. I too have a 6mth old in the UK and have been looking around.

Hi, I live in Houston. I chose for mine to get it seperate first the Measles vaccination way before 9/11. Unfortunately when I was ready to get her her 2nd part it was not availible to even order anymore. Needless to say she has to get the MMR before entering school. Not Avail in Houston, TX. Try Mexico- you never know. Good Luck.

Hi

Thanks. I have found that I can get the separate shots in Japan, which is closer to where I live. MMR seems to be banned over there!

Thanks anyway.

Hello,

I am brand new to this site today, so you may have had your child vaccinated already, but I thought that I would respond anyway. In the U.S., the first MMR vaccination is given at 15 months. We have a 32 month old son who has had all of his vaccinations, but the MMR vaccine because we want it administered separately. Merck Medco does manufacture it as separate vaccinations, but it's not readily available because it's cost-prohibitive and it's a political issue, for the medical profession denies any link between the MMR vaccine and autism. Over the last several days, I have been trying to get one dosage of each for our son and have been unsuccessful. Merck Medco had run out of the three separate vaccinations in 2002, but now has them available, "in limited supply." Their customer service number is 1-800-672-6372. However, Merck sells the vaccines in boxes of ten; you cannot purchase them as single dosages. To purchase one box of each of the three vaccines costs about $600.00. I have been calling everywhere to see if anyplace has it stocked or can order it for me, but I have not had any luck. I don't want to pay $600.00 for the vaccines, but we feel strongly about not giving him the combined MMR shot. It's been a fiasco and a very eye-opening experience, as I never expected that I would have difficulty procuring this. It's awful. Why bother making it, if none of the pharmacies and doctors' offices are going to carry it? It's all about money, unfortunately. So, that's my situation. I'm going to call some more places, but I'm not hopeful at all now that I'm going to get it. It's very unfortunate, but it's all about money and politics, which is a darn shame.

I just wanted to let you know that legally they can't force you to vaccinate your child prior to entering school. All states have some form of exemption. We opted not to vaccinate our 7 year old daughter, and she is a happy, healthy, vibrant little girl. She does not suffer from autism or any other related syndromes. I always check out the autism boards to see if any other people feel there is a strong connection between the vaccines and the numerous different syndromes that are becoming so common in this day and age.

You should check the Texas state laws regarding exemptions. They will have either a medical, religious or philisophical exemption. All we do is sign a waiver and state the reasons we opt not to vaccinate. It is as simple as that, but most people out there feel that they are required to vaccinate. It infuriates me that people are not told that they legally have a choice whether to vaccinate a child or not! Hope you are able to find what you are looking for.

Hi, what state are you in? Our Pediatrician said she would look into it some one else was asking as well. By the way good luck on your first borns four year check up- the doctor was going to make me sign some ugly paper stating I was putting my child at risk blah blah blah they send it to your health care insurance and then the insurance co puts your child in the high risk category and then they could drop the kid because the underwriters follow the Pediatric board reccommendations or make you pay more in premiums. Sounds like extortion or collusion or a mafia situation to me.Hello,
