Lately, I've been feeling a sort of lump or something buldging from my lower pelvic region (almost 13cm from belly button). I went to get an ultrasound checked, and found that i had a few fibrods developed. But, that i believe shouldn't be the cause of the pain.
A few days ago, i just noticed that the area is beginning to swell up a bit. But the lumpy feeling still exists. Would anyone be able to let me know what is wrong with me? Or has had similar experiences and got an answer?
Thanks,
Sarah

SarahIf fibroids are large enough and are sitting near or on nerves, they can be a source of pain. One of the other possibilities is chronic pelvic pain which can be caused by believe it or not, sitting with your right leg crossed over your left knee a lot, say hours at a time. Women do this a lot of times when working at a desk job. It is a place to put the leg and we do it. This position puts stress on the nerve endings that come from the lower tail bone region and they send pain waves to the front of the pelvis. Of course there can be other reasons for pelvic pain stemming from vascular problems and inflammation as well as the more serious things which seemed to have been eliminated by your ultra sound screening.

marimac, thanks for responding to my question. But i'm scared because i feel like there's a lump within me. I'm not too sure if it may be caused by a tumour of some sort, bceause now it is starting to swell up.

Have you been checked for a Tubal pregnancy(ectopic?)? I would go to the emergency room for a second opinion if you are not satisfied with your current care. It sounds like it could be serious from what you are writing.

I'm not sure where your swelling is located, but could it be a hernia?
My doc told me 14 yrs ago that i had a hernia in my pelvic region, but that it would probably not cause me any problem so he was leaving it alone. He did tell me that if it ever"strangulated" I would know from the pain, and this would constitute a medical emergency that I should take care of immediately.
If you're scared, don't take any chances and get it checked out.

marimac, jeopardy mom: thanks for respoding to me with the valauble suggestions. well, i'm 52 and i'm in my menopause years, so i'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with pregancy. My swelling is in ym lower pelvic region (slightly above my pelvic bone). My doctor suggested it could be my veins, since i stand around alot for work, but i dont know. If it were veins, i dont think they would swell up, and create thatt lumpy feeling in me.
