I am not exactly sure where to post this, so i apoligize if it is in the wrong location.
For the past few weeks now, i have noticed a tremor in all of my fingers on both hands that only comes when the hands are at rest. For isntance it is most noticable if i were to hold up a piece of paper, a book, a pen, etc. The frequency and amplitude of the tremors is quit low (but noticable), how ever they come EVERY time my hands are at rest. I am an 18 year old male, with no medical history. I appreaciate any and all responses.
Thanks.

Morsus,
When your hands aren't at resting what are you doing? And does the tremors last constantly or dissipate after 10 mins?
If you are excessively using your hands/fingers, by repeative typing, etc, it is your fingers responding to the cramping of consistent use. I can weedeat for 1/2 hour, and my hands, arms shake to where I can't write a check, hold a glass of water for spilling half of it, its the weight bearing of holding, grasping and repeated movements. Takes about 20 mins for it to dissipate.
Just a thought

Mo,
Are you taking any medications at all, even over-the counter-stuff for anything at all?
Have you been consuming a lot of caffeine lately?
Are you saying that as you lift a book up there is NO tremor? That is only occurs once the book is in position?
Does the tremor ever occur as you are in the process of, let's say, lifting a cup of coffee to your lips?
zuzu xx

Hi thanks for your replies,
a) i havent been taking medications per-se as much as ive been taking herbs for some time. Daily i take the lowest dose of gingko biloba and st. johns wort (as well as a coupe vitamin suppliments > but ive been taking those for years without previous problems)
b) ive been consuming approximately 2 medium sized cups of coffee per day for many many months now with no previous problems
c) I really do not notice a tremor when i pick-up the book, only when it is in position; nor do i notice a tremor when im using my hands at all.
- Other than tha, ive noticed that the tremor is indeed in both legs as well as my head (i was at the eye dr. the other day and had to keep my chin on that pad while he looked in my eyes and noticed a significant tremor in my head while trying to keep still).
Also i've noticed that recently ive had hard palpatations in that i can feel my heart beat when I stay still in almost any part of my body (espically my palms) but the beat itself is not irregular or fast.
Now that I think about it, could these be symptoms of hyperthyrodism?
