First, I would like to know if anyone on the board lives in Raleigh NC, and if so, do you have an orthodontist you think is wonderful? If you do, could you post here?

I had braces as a teen, but now I am 45 and have a deep overbite and front lower teeth are worn down. I have been to 3 orthos. Two suggested just putting on upper & lower braces. The 3rd suggested a splint for 6 months (although I don't really have TMJ symptoms other than the wear on teeth adn tinnitus, and he didn't mention TMJ except to give me a 5 page questionaiire to complete at home), and then braces for 2 years. Two of the 3 orthos suggested capping or putting veneers on the lower 4 teeth after the braces come off; the splint ortho suggested veneers on lower and upper front 4 teeth. I am resisting doing that because I don't want to reduce these teeth to put on crowns and they are not THAT worn down. But it sounds like I could just get the crowns, which my dental insurance would partially cover, and skip the braces, which my insurance won't cover. So now I am thorougly confused. Any thoughts?
