Ive had problems with regularity for years now but especially since my son was born in 01. I MIGHT go once a week or maybe two times, then it ends up in me being in the bathroom all day long. When I eat, as soon as it hits my stomach, I get so bloated I can't fit into my pants anymore. I am miserable most everyday unless I avoid food and that's not healthy. The topper - from Feb to March, in four weeks - I managed to gain over 15 pounds! My stomach is swollen - just in the midsection is where I gained the weight, stomach, lower abs and slightly in the top of thighs. My diet has not changed and in fact, I eat less than my 10 yr old daughter most days. The Dr I saw last week didn't seem to give a crap - he thinks it's thyroid but if that was the case, wouldn't I have put it on all over?

So I guess my question is does it sound like IBS - or maybe something worse? It's just not like me to suddenly gain that much weight - and I dont think its normal for anyone over a 4 week period. Im fed up and the doctors don't seem to want to do a damn thing  Maybe this belongs in the ovarian cancer section? I'm so tired of feeling this way!

I bloat so bad I could pass as 8 months pregnant some days...NO JOKE EITHER !! I didn't realize a person could even do such a thing and it be IBS ! I would have clothes picked out for an outing on the weekend (I am always runnin late so this is always a good idea for me) and husband could not figure out why I had to change 20 times and get so upset before we went out the door ! My cool outfit I had planned to wear DID NOT fit and it would just totally blow my mind !!!!! How could anyone change in size that drastically in a matter of a day or two....arghhhhh ! It's got to where I was bloated MOST of the time and would go out to eat and FEEL myself getting larger and jeans tighter and tighter......I'd end up totally uncomfortable and miserable not to mention feeling like a fat slug !!! My stomach would bulge over the sides.....strangest thing I have ever had to deal with !!! I've tried different diets and not eating as much day we were going out but seem'd it'd still happen and maybe the stress of gettin ready to go out (I love to go out but have alot to do beforehand with so many animals ect) was makein it worse. I brought it up again with my doc last week cuz I was at witts end....with summer comeing up it seem'd no matter how strict I got with my diet I was BLOATED mostly in the mid section and my face would look puffy too !!! All my cool shirts and jeans looked PATHETIC !!! Doc gave me a script for NULEV (hyoscyamine 0.125 mg)..........wow......I am impressed !! Only thing so far that has even come close to controlling my bloating.....still get it a bit but not like it was. You can take it several times a day too. Good luck to you..Pam

You make an interesting point about altering your diet and not-eating, and how the bloating still occurs, I fully agree, and its damn annoying! I used to make sure I didnt eat before going clubbing, cause I hated taking my shirt off until the bulging went down.

Having said that, the bloating is there for a reason, I assume something is causing digestion issues. Im 3 weeks into my diet changes, and I still bloat badly...I have a suspicion I am trying to undo many years of bad dietary practice here...

Do you have other IBS symptoms or just bloating? Try looking up 'Candida' too. I tried eating Yeast today after not touching it for 3 weeks and now my tummy is like a hard balloon, its a pretty clear message I think (though I think theres more too it still..)
