I have tried the white eyeliner trick-nothing works. I want the whites of my eyes to be brighter and the green to be greener. Bigger eyes too...more drama. Can not get it to look that way. What works?

I think it is almay that has a new plum mascara too. Hamer 04-13-2004, 04:48 PM The lilac is a good idea. Also, you can use eye drops before you put your make-up on because that will really get them white, and that's what all the photographers use when they shoot a model for a cover or magazine. What also works well for me is to take a black eyeliner (one that glides smoothly, but not liquid) and make a line from corner to corner right above your top lashes but so close to the lashes that it is almost on top of the lashes. Then also use blackeyeliner on the bottom lashes -but the one thing you do different (and this makes all the difference in the world!) is to make the line on and above the lower lashes. It is kind of like coloring your lashes. Do this from corner to corner as well, then put on some black mascara and your eyes will pop! The first time I did this my husband went crazy! He loves it so much that I do it every day now. Let me know if you try it. PS I forgot to add that since I started doing my eyes this way, people stop me all the time to tell me how pretty my eyes are! They really stand out I guess. SweetPuff 04-14-2004, 12:31 AM With the shadows, use the darkest colors in the crease and the brightest color or a creamy white under your brows. The white should be under your arch and then on the inside corners of your eyes. I have green eyes and a maroon or grey liner will help them stand out (as well as will black...but the springy colors are in right now). However, lining the bottom of your eyes all the way will make them look smaller. Only line from the outside of the bottom to about 1/2way in. I do this and then I use a stiff brush to place some pearly white shadow from 1/2way to the inside corner. Every photographer I have worked with loves my eyes! Do you have thick brows? If so you may want to shape them and thin them slightly to open up your eyes...but not too much b/c thin isn't in! SweetPuff 04-14-2004, 12:44 AM Oh yea.... don't try to get your eyes as white as a cover models....those whites have been retouched and whitened!!!!!! Trust me...I know straight from the source. Of course they retouch a lot of flaws. However, many makeup artists do use eyedrops in models eyes before a shoot if they are needed. I actually had one compliment me on how white my eyes were w/out drops. I think it is very much due to a healthy diet. If you eat your fruits and veggies you will improve the health and beauty of your eyes. FaerieStars 04-14-2004, 07:23 AM Try putting a pearly/shimmery whitish color around the inner corners of your eyes. Avoid a redish tone. The shimmer makes eyes look fresher. Cyndee 04-14-2004, 02:23 PM I have green eyes and I agree with putting white powder in the inner corners as stated above. I don't like using purple eyeliners, so I use various shades of brown, they make green eyes pop too. I also line the inside lower rim of my eyes, your eyes will really pop then. SweetPuff 04-14-2004, 10:19 PM Just to add something to what I wrote....lining your entire eye...full line on the bottom will make them appear smaller, however if you just want them to pop, that will work if done correctly. If not done correctly it'll just look like a raccoon or too much. If you line all the way around watch how much makeup you use everywhere else! Let one thing be the focal point! ....the eyes are the window to the soul...so what better part to show off :) Also as I was flipping through Allure today lots of the models had lined eyes with greens and purples, etc... Spring Colors....the brightness will make them look bigger and stand out...but don't over do it or you'll look like a clown! Kind of fun to play around though...especially if you are going out! robste 04-15-2004, 11:45 AM Wow...these all sound like such great ideas-I'll also have to try some of them. I'd also love to hear some suggestions on what color liner(s) to use for dark brown eyes, and then, also for blue eyes. The reason I'd like recommendations for both brown eyes and blue eyes, is because my eyes are really brown, but then I have some of those contact lens for people with dark eyes that change my eyecolor to a dark blue-turquoise color (it's very subtle, although it sounds strange!) One more question...some of you mention that lining your lower eyelid will make your eyes "pop". One person who posted (sorry, I forgot who), mentioned that to really make your eyes stand out to line the lower lid above and below the lashes...by saying line the lower lid above the lashes, do you mean to line the inside of your lower eyelid? I remember seeing some women actually line the inside lower eyelid with bright blue pencil to really brighten the eyes....but if that's what you really mean, I wear contacts, and wouldn't the liner get in my eye or on my contacts? Cyndee 04-15-2004, 11:48 AM I have green eyes and line the INSIDE lower rim of my eye with either blue or brown, for some reason, the brown really makes my green eyes show, moreso than the blue. I wear contacts and have never had a problem lining the inside of my eye. Just buy a good quality eyeliner that is hypoallergenic, etc. I do not line below my lower lash line as this makes my eyes look tiny and it makes me look like a crack ***** too. :) Good luck. Cyndee FaerieStars 04-15-2004, 12:22 PM How do you line the inner rim? When I do that it comes off within a minute. Cyndee 04-15-2004, 12:27 PM Pull your lower lid down a bit and line the rim. Use a soft eyeliner, but try to find a waterproof or smudgeproof one. robste 04-15-2004, 01:01 PM Pull your lower lid down a bit and line the rim. Use a soft eyeliner, but try to find a waterproof or smudgeproof one. If I line the "rim" of my lower lid, that's really the inside part of my lower lid (sort of), right? If it's smudgeproof or waterproof, how will I remove it at the end of the day without getting eyemakeup remover inside my eye? Sorry for all the questions, but I'm confused about this.-Robin Cyndee 04-15-2004, 01:04 PM By rim, I mean the little rim literally directly above your lower lash line, so it's almost like ontop of your lower lash line. My eyeliner is smudgeproof, not waterproof, and by the end of the day and after a face washing, comes off. (I'm not usually this dense, lol...must be that I'm having "pms" and a "bad hair day", lolol.) Thanks for your help, Robin Cyndee 04-15-2004, 02:21 PM Not a problem. It makes a difference. I usually do this when we go out and my fiance says "wow" and notices the eyes more. Take care, Cyndee ccynthia 04-16-2004, 08:25 PM 5 servings of fruits and veggies a day for bright eyes! It really does work. Plus it gives you shiney hair. I think there is some vitamin available too that claims this but I don't know anything about it. robste 04-16-2004, 09:03 PM Not a problem. It makes a difference. I usually do this when we go out and my fiance says "wow" and notices the eyes more. Take care, Cyndee :bouncing: Hey, I think I got the hang of this lining right above my lower lashes thing down! Wow....it does make my eye's "pop"...looks terrific! On my dark brown (or dark turquoise-blue when I wear my colored contacts) eyes, I used a very dark plum liner pencil....looks fabulous! However, I agree with other lady who mentioned that it doesn't stay on the rim very long. Guess I'll try a smudgeproof brand of pencil next time. Cyndee, thanks again for all your help. My husband even noticed my eyes! -Robin SweetPuff 04-16-2004, 11:50 PM Did anyone see the first Average Joe Episode? If I'm not mistaken, the girl, Melana, lined above her lower lashes...actually on the lid with white, but then had black or another color under it. The white really brightened her eyes. I don't know how to line the lid like that...seems like it could be dangerous....but maybe someone else can explain :) |
