Hi
We are in real emergency & need help..This is the case of my 33 yr old brother who I think is now in moderate/late Alzheimer as per doctors in India. He has a long history of 15 yrs living in all extreme possible stressors viz. Bipolar mania, OCD, Panic states and then a lot real life stresses like betrayal from his business partner, death of our mother etc. Infact twice in last 1 month he just attempted to kill himself cutting his wrist. Investigations showed continuous high levels of cortisol over some last yrs. Also 2 yrs back he had his MRI done in India which infact was normal
(Is it possible that a Alzheimer can show normal MRI?). In the begining it was just a worst memory loss, then language problems, confusion and just recently loss of ability to recognise things properly & agitation..

CAN SOMEONE THROW ANY LIGHT ON THIS?. IS THERE A CHANCE THAT DOCTORS HAVE MISDIAGNOSED ALZ BECOZ WE DONT HAVE ANY FAMILY HISTORY...BUT STILL CAN RARE EXTREME STRESSORS CAN LEAD TO ALZ? WHAT CAN WORK BEST FOR HIM RGHT NOW ?
HOPING FOR A RESPONSE..
THANKS
HAVE A NICE TIME AHEAD

My suggestion to you is to get his Thyroid checked...You would not believe how an underactive thyroid can be mistaken for dementia and Alzheimer's.

Plaques & tangles showed up on both my MRI.
Have the thyroid,& check for Pernicious Anemia............

You may want to investigate extreme Panic Disorder...this is associated with memory problems as well; extreme disorientation among other things is also very common.

Your concern is quite understandable...hope you get your breakthrough very soon.

Bless!

Early age AD(before the age of 65)isn't as rare as you think. There are many of us out there who were dx with Dementia of the Alzheimer's type.

Do you know what kind of medication he is taking, if any?
Have you ruled out any possible contraindications?
The reason I ask is your situation sounds alot like someone I know who suffered from Lithium poisoning and exhibited many of the symptoms you described.

I'd also look at family history for huntington's. Has he been making jerky movements?
