Hi guys
I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post this - it is in no way advertising, but it's something I have to share (and risk getting banned I guess...mods, if you consider this to be inappropriate go ahead and remove the post, but plz don't ban me).
Anyway, my dad has had a drinking problem for many years...infact, as long as I've been alive, he has been a heavy drinker, and the last 8 or so years, there's no other way to say it, he's an alcoholic. I've tried everything I know to help him, and as I'm sure you're all aware, there's no use trying to help someone who doesn't want to help themselves.
So a month or so ago, a friend I know who smokes told me how he read this book, and hasn't had another ciggarette since...this is a guy who has tried everything to quit, and couldn't...yet this book has allowed him to be smoke free for a month now. I asked if this guy wrote any books on alcohol, and funnily enough, he said yes, and referred me to it.
I bought the book over the internet and when it arrived, I placed it where I knew my dad would see it. I had to go on a trip for work the next day, and when I called my folks to say hi, dad said he read the book, and had not had a drink for 4 days. I was suprised, but cynical, as I've seen him not drink for a couple of days before and then hit the bottle really hard when he can't take it anymore.
Fast forward to the present...he's now on his 10th day with no alcohol, and has had 3 occasions where everyone around him was drinking in excess (Easter celebrations etc), and he did not have a single drop.
I'm too scared to say that I think he's 'cured'..it's too early for any such thoughts, I don't want to dare to dream just yet...but I have never seen him so strong in his will to stop drinking, and he has never gone so long without....
The book he read is called "The easy way to control alcohol" and it's by Alan Carr...I have nothing to do with the book, so this isn't advertising...I just have seen 2 people with strong addictions read it, and change their life dramatically...I am yet to read it myself, but am aching to know what is inside the book that is so powerful!
Sorry for the babble, but if there's anyone out there that's struggling with alcohol, maybe you might experience the change in mindset that my dad has - and from what i've seen, that can only be a good thing!
Best of luck!
sarah
