Hi- I need some thoughts on this. I have been having monster headaches for the last three week. Went to my family Dr. he gave me Celebrex then something else no real help there. The pain is always in the back of my head on the right side right above and to the right of the top of spine. He says tension headaches, I am crying because I have to deal with this pain. I make an eye appt. My eyes have never been that great but my right eye has always been the stronger eye. Back in November I noticed my right eye was a little blurry but thought it was due to the wellbutrian I was taking to quit smoking. I went off the meds in march and still noticed vision problems but didn't think it was bad enough for a visit to the eye dr. then the headaches and I will try anything to get rid of the headaches, He does all his tests and comes back and says I have double vision in my right eye and that is what is causeing my headaches. I had a higher pressure reading in my right eye also and so he recommended glasses. Then in passing he says I may have thyroid issues down the road and I said huh? he said like grave's disease. This doesn't faze me until I thought about it today and I call him back to ask if this is something my family dr needs to be aware of and should I be tested He says don't worry about it I am confident the glasses will help and if it doesn't we know which road to go down next. I guess I am mad becaus emy head hurts all the time and I want it to go away without taking these pills all the time (they have a seditive in them and it makes work hard) the headaches make it hard to think and to work (I waitress and can't remember stuff) and hard to do schoolwork ( i got to school at night) Any thought son this would be appreciated. Thanks! Btw the headache start in the am but don't bother me while I am sleeping.

You need to go see a neuro-opthalmologist or a neurologist ASAP. Do not waste time with GP's when you are experiencing symptoms such as these. To be honest, constant, unrelenting headaches, particularly in the back of your head (occipital region - visual processing) coupled with visual symptoms, are generally not good. If they came and went, they could be migraines, but you say this headache just won't go away. I am shocked that he recommended glasses for high pressure in your right eye, this is glaucoma. Anyways, if you haven't gotten an MRI done you should probably ask for one. I don't mean to scare you, but this is something you should attend to as soon as is convenient. It is certainly possible that this is just crazy stress headache from eye focusing problems etc, but you need to rule other things out and nail that down as the cause. Good luck, let me know what you find out!
