I am in a cast for another 2 weeks before a cam walker is considered; however, I am being allowed to do some weight bearing. This is up to 50% of my weight. :bouncing: Apparently the deep achy feeling that I have been having is normal.

Congrats:)

I am just back to work and in a shoe part time yesterday. Today is better than yesterday, so progress is happening here too.

I know you're happy with your progress. I'll be glad when I can get rid of the crutches. Today the dr decided to look at the stability of my right ankle just to make sure that it was stable because of my flexibility. So far so good and the left ankle is the only one with problems.

How can you detemine 50% of your weight or does the cast protect your foot in such a way that you don't put that much weight on your foot??

It's so protected by the cast, that I can't put much weight on it. The crutches also helps. I also tend to lean a little to the right side which will put more weight on the right foot.

KFS,
Congrats on the progress! Do you have a shoe that you wear with your walking cast? I found that after a week or so in the walking cast I was able to get rid of the crutches. What a happy day that was as I had used them for over 5 weeks. I them went to the CAM walker. The best part of that was showering and sleeping. I still use my crutches for the quick bathroom runs in the middle of the night. To much effort to put the CAM back on. Good luck to you.

I have a shoe. We will see in 2 weeks if I go into the cam walker or stay in the cast.
