siren3 04-16-2004, 08:09 PM Does it dry out the skin or burn it? Anyone here use it regularly? Does it do anything positive for your skin? Thanks. :) Sponsor lovely.lady 04-16-2004, 10:21 PM Ooh, no, I would definitely say don't risk it. It contains a very large amount of acid that could burn and dry up your skin. lauho68 04-17-2004, 01:24 PM It's a good toner but use it sparingly, especially if you have dry skin. It can reduce age spots/freckles. quincy 04-17-2004, 03:27 PM It's a photosensitiser (any citrus). And it does have a lightening action. It also "cuts through grease". It will make you extra sensitive to the sun. There are other products you could certainly use rather than lemon juice. q siren3 04-18-2004, 11:35 PM Oh thanks a lot for the replies.. I guess I will not be using lemon juice as a toner, sounds like it would be bad for my particular skin type! Thank you for warning me. :) sunny1201 01-23-2005, 10:46 PM I met a woman who is in her 60's and looks 40. She uses lemon juice on her skin every day and says that she puts nothing else on it. I am trying to follow it but don't like the sensation when I apply the lemon. The results are worth it, though. Lemon juice contains AHA acids and they promote collagen production + vit C, which is in many expensive therapies. It surely makes sense. Tigress223 01-24-2005, 07:06 AM Apple Cider vinegar diluted with water (approx 1 part vinegar to 8 parts water) is good to use as a toner. It restores the natural ph balance to the skin that can be altered by cleansing and other products. Skin with ph consisently balanced = healthy. :) P.S. Did you want to use the lemon juice for any particular problem ie: hyperpigmentation? If so, there are products you can use to fade marks and even the complextion which are formulated for that purpose. HTH Kay33 01-24-2005, 01:08 PM If you prefer natural products..Witch Hazel has many uses, as well as a good toner. monacks 01-24-2005, 10:16 PM Dumb question: What exactly is toner used for? I have toners and I use them, but I've never been able to figure out what its supposed to do:) Kay33 01-25-2005, 12:46 PM Momacks, Not a dumb question :) Toners are optional, use them after you wash your face for any residual 'dirt' left behind. They can be harsh, but if your skin is really oily, it feels good as it has a drying, pore-tightening feel. However, they can be harsh if you have sensitive skin, and, as much as we like to get rid of excess oil in our face...we need some to maintain balance..sometimes toners can strip too much away. So, use it if you like and it works for you, or skip it, altogether, that can work too :) |
