I have a question for the hydro experts here. I had heard that when you take the hydrocodone pills, it makes you energized.....everyone I've talked to about it has told me this. However my wife has started taking them for post operation pain management, and the more she takes the more tired she gets. I even took some to see how it makes you feel and it made me dead tired. Why did it affect us different?

Hi JamesJackson,
Pain med's react differently to differnent people, I don't know about the
hydro, but for me ultram gives me headaches and makes me have
nausea, but to others they get 0 headaches and 0 nausea, and plus
I don't get alot of energy while being on ultram but to some others
they get alot of energy, everyone is different, maybe others who are
on hydrocodone know more about it then I do, and please don't take your
wifes or anyone else's prescriptions, like I said people react differntly
so it could be dangerous for you to try someone else's prescription just to see how it would affect you. Kim

After taking them for sometime you have to take it to keep your energy up because your body gets so used to functioning with them.I would have my energy level up for about 2 to 3 hrs after taking them and then crash after that.Hope that answers your question.

JJ,

When one is taking them properly (like after surgery) they will more than likely not give you an euphoric feeling- basically they stop the pain and DO make you tired.

For me, when I began to abuse them, it was because I turned into SUPERWOMAN on the pills. Now, granted, if I were to lay down, I would get sleepy, but if I stayed up and moving, I felt awesome!

Each is different though?????

In most situations, when you are taking any narcotics for severe pain, you wont feel that same euphoria as you would in taking them recreationally.I currently suffer from some pain that can be just totally overwhelming at times. When i take pain meds now, i do not get that same "warm fuzzy" feeling that i did many years ago when i was abusing them.I just feel some relief and get very tired at times(quite the change)and also some people have a very sleepy type reaction to any narcotics. Some people will really feel very depressed while on them.It just depends on how your body reacts to the drug. And by the way, taking your wifes pain meds is a no-no.I hope she is better soon.marcia

It seems that they've pretty much covered everything.......when I first started taking they were for migraines and in my quest for pain relief I found that they did wonders fo emotional pain as well thus began my long journey.........................Today tolerance so high I really have no reason to take them except for what they are intended........the pain
