I have tried EVERYTHING to get rid of my gas problem. I have tried every antispazmatic my doctor has shoveled out, tried eliminating milk, wheat, ect, had a colonoscopy, EVERYTHING. And every days my belly fills up with such huge amounts of gas, I FEEL nine months pregnant my stomache is streched so far, and I don't feel better until I get it out (then I feel fine) but most of the time I can't get it out.
ANY SUGGESTIONS....ANY AT ALL??

The only thing that helped w/ the huge amounts of gas that I suffered w/ is bitters (the kind you get at the market next to the tonic water). A doc suggested that I take 1/2 tsp. w/ water 15 minutes prior to eating, which I did. I was shocked that such a simple remedy worked. The gas is not entirely gone but I don't look 9 months pregnant.

I've never heard of "bitters". Can you name a brand? What are they?

Bitters are derived from an herb. They are used in various mixed drinks, thus, you find them in the beverage section in grocery stores. I found the bottle next to the tonic water. The brand I bought is Angostura. On the bottle is says, aromatic bitters. I'm sure the brand doesn't matter. Just ask someone in the store for bitters that are used in mixed drinks.
It has made a tremendous difference. And, they are inexpensive.

Please feel free to ask more questions if I am not being clear. I know when bitters were first suggested to me, I could not imagine what they were.

I will give it a try and report back. I have had problems with excessive flatulence rather than bloatedness. Are they related?

I have excessive flatulance. That is what I mean when I say I am"bloated", the gas gets trapped in my belly and I can't get it out.Gas/Bloat same thing. Ive never heard of bitters before either...I'm going to give it a try.

I put the bitters (about 1/2 tsp.) in a half a glass of water. I imagine you could put it in other drinks but it may be more effective for gas if taken in plain water.
It really has helped me. I continue to do this several times a day.

how do bitters taste? my mom puts them in her scotch and it smells repulsive to me, but maybe it's just the scotch that smells bad. are they actually bitter? if they're not too bad I may have to give them a try.

Bitters do not really have a strong taste. In fact, in a glass of plain water I can barely detect them. If you have gas, I think you should give bitters a try.
I'm sure the strong smell was the scotch, which has a very strong smell. You probably couldn't even smell the bitters in such a drink.

I'm trying the bitters now, as per your advice. You can hardly taste it once it is mixed with water.
The only downside is that is actually 90-proof alcohol. I am avoiding alcohol and can't take it multiple times daily.
I use about 1.5 teaspoons mixed with water at times I know I will be somewhere public...
I can't really say how effective it has been yet....

OMG! 90 proof alcohol. I surely did not realize this or I would have passed on the information. I just looked at my bottle of bitters and it's 45 not 90. In any case, there is an alternative w/o the alcohol. It has the same herb base. It is called genitan stomach tonic and the brand is Wala.
My sincere apologies for not noticing that the bitters have alcohol. As well, many herb tonics in the health food store are in a base of alcohol. I use to avoid those but apparently the alcohol is not bothering me because I've had only reaped the benefits of the bitters.

FYI 45% = 90 proof. I will look for Wala.
