I have, for several weeks a growing rectal pain. I do not have any visible blood in my stool, nor on the paper. I cannot see anything in the mirror, but can feel a hard spot on the edge of my rectum. The hard spot does not protrude, but is very sensitive to touch, it hurts. The pain is not constant, but when I wipe, or sometimes my whole butt hurts, seems like the pain just radiates up inside. Heat, when I can get it helps some. This doesn't seem like the description for hemmroids, and it concerns me. It doesn't seem to be going away on its own. Does this sound like anything common?

Please, just go and show this to the doctor: it can be something common or it can be a cancer for example. Enlarged prostate would also be papable throug the rectum but more inside not at the edge. You can do yourself a great favour if you go to the doctor now.

I know I should, but I don't have a doctor I can trust. I recently moved, and the few doctors I have seen since don't inspire much confidence. Thanks for your concern I really do appreciate your thoughts. I know that sooner or later the pain will get me, I'll suck it up and go to the doctor, but it just seems like "why should I bother, they won't be able to help, and it will really be expensive". thanks again for your response.

I'm willing to bother you further. Read anywhere on the net about colorectal cancer to see why early visit to doctor is so important. I don't say it's a cancer. Also your GP or how do you call it won't make diagnosis but abdominal specialist-proctologist will.
