I am wondering if healing from BPPV and 30 to 50% damage is like recovery from a stroke. My mother had several before she passed and she would be very disabled and then in a few hours she would improve in an area.
The doctors said the brain works on a threshold principle - symptoms can be very intense or disabling right up until the switch is flipped and then they are gone or much less.
I am seeing no progress (in fact regression into more suffering now) and I wonder if things can be very messed up and then all or part clears.
With normal tissue healing it is gradual and progressive. If the pain is a 10 the damage is a 10, symptom intensity equals time remaining to heal.
I saw my mother unable to speak, walk and near death from a major stroke. This went on for about two weeks. One morning she was sitting up in bed wanting food and a newspaper. She still had much recovery to do but it was evident that her intense symptoms had switched in a few hours.
