If you have inner ear problems can certain weather conditions make your dizziness feel worse? Right now I'm somewhere where it will likely be raining all day.

It doesn't affect me, but I have read either here or an another board that rainy weather does affect some people's condition. I guess it's just one of many factors

I have a vestibular injury from a ride (spinning type) and I keep records of my symptoms relative to the weather. I use a barometer (glass filled with liquid) as well as an electronc version. what i observed is that fluctuations, mostly large ones, will affect my symptoms in a negative way. In relation to that, i also notice that going to higher altitudes relieves symptoms, maybe by reducing pressure?

kstycket - welcome - may I ask more about how long youve had this and have you tried VRT and have you improved/doyou think you'll get over this??? How much is your injury as in to what extent? Just recently read an article on the web by someone who got a vestibular injury from a ride also - awful...

Can you describe your dizziness??

To everyone else - weather doesnt affect things too much - but I do find I can sense when a thunder storn is coming dizzy wise - v v odd!!!!

Untill 5 weeks ago I was not effected at all by the weather. But since the onset of symtoms (calcium crystals in inner ear) rainy weather has made my migraines a lot worse. Thunder storms are the worst. A week ago we had a storm and I thought my head would explode. Nothing worked. I tried pain killers, tiger balm, ice packs, laying down, etc. The pain did not let up till the storm stopped. No I dred bad weather. I'm now on a beta-blocker to stop the migraines but have not had a storm since to see if it's any bettter.

Tallman,

Yeah, the weather thing can certainly cause problems. Scant5, who posts on here from time to time always worries when there's a rainy patch because it aggravates her symptoms. I also have had a couple episodes of the thunder storm problems that Karen refers to. It's to do with changes in barometric pressure, I'm sure, because I feel like my head is going to explode! It's all just part of the fun and games of life in VH (vestibular hell for you newbies :D ).

Hey Barnsley:
I'm here, I haven't forgotten about anybody....yes the rain sure does bother me. I actually dread when its going to rain more than two days. And now since I am getting old and decrepit (sp) I had to be put on birth control pills for the first time in my life at 43...it's getting close to the time of my period and I must say the past two days have made me wonkier than usual. I actually slept 13 hours yesterday because I was soooooo sleepy. I'm attributing this to my new regime and know it will pass although it is cutting into my gardening. Barnsley....read your post on your blips and boy can I relate to the instant panic that hits you. I haven't had a real scare in a couple of months but I know when I do.....I am on pins and needles for a couple of days because I am just waiting for something else to happen. This head monster sure can turn us into freaks. My worst one happened one evening while out to dinner with friends. What really shocked me was that it happened while I was sitting down, so it was totally out of the norm. I remember trying to put up a good front, but inside I was not paying attention to any of the conversation and I could hardly eat. But alas, it passes.
Terri, you are so close.....and you know you will be 100% as will everybody else but unfortunately we keep hitting those speed bumps which make you stop dead in your tracks and you want to hyperventilate, throw up, crawl into bed, cry or whatever.

all the best,
Kathy :D

Hi Kathy!!

I'm so glad to hear from you. I was actually thinking about you this morning and hoping that since I hadn't seen you around in a while that it meant things were going well on the road to recovery. Sounds like they are. I was going to start a thread addressed to you to see how things were going.

You can't say you're old and decrepit because I'm only a couple years younger than you!!! And since I'm NOT old and decrepit, you can't possibly be. :D

Thanks for your thoughts on the blips. Today has been a good day. I went to visit a friend who owns an art gallery, and I felt just fine. I've been in her gallery several times, so maybe my brain has that one locked in, but frankly the way this stuff makes me feel, it's like I'm knocked off my center a bit and worry even about spaces that I know won't bother me. Sheesh. That's where the anxiety part is playing a bigger role than I care to give it, and I'm working hard not to. We've got a European vacation coming up at the end of June, and I'll be damned if I'm going to let this stuff ruin it. I just have to keep Subs' wisdom in the forefront of my mind ("I know what this is, it's not going to kill me, and my brain will lock in shortly, just ignore it"). I just love your "hyperventilate, throw up, crawl into bed, cry or whatever" comment!! That just about sums it up.

Stay well,
Terri
