I had an injury from a spinning ride (98) and still have moderate to severe symptoms some 6 years later. I was diagnosed with Labrinthitis-vestibular trauma. After the initial 3 month period of incapacitation, I returned to somewhat normal life. However, changes in weather, colds, swollen eustachian tubes, and other seemingly insignificant illness' seem to now trigger symptoms. they last from days to months. That's the history.

My biggest problem is my employer, the California dept of transportation, where I am an environmental planner, and where most of my work involves reading and using a computer. Up until the last year, i worked for another agency, the coastal commission, and they allowed me a flex schedule, which enabled me to work at home some of the time when i had symptoms.

This sort of accommodation is called "reasonable accommodation", and it is required by law. My problem is 2 fold and i wonder if any of you have had to go through this ordeal, and can help with your experience? I am really depressed by the blatant abuse of power, and total disregard for what is clearly an injury that I am suffering from. please respond. I woud be so appreciative.

Hi...how utterly horrendous re. the history of your problem...did you do VRT can I ask? And when you are not ill, can you have periods of normality? Did they detect how much damage you have? Hope you dont mind the questions.

Awful about your job situation...I can see where you're coming from...I cant really answer as have had no experience of this situation - at the moment I do supply work (im a teacher) and am looking for a part time job from sept. I wont work full time til I get to a better level of dizziness (with any luck).

I really hope someone on here can advise you further...

xxx
