View Full Version : Anybody else get the bad dreams?

Not just bad dreams but like a dream scenario mentally imaging your physical symptoms? I get it a lot, sometimes real scary, nightmare type dreams that wake my up with my blood pressure soaring. Last night's wasn't so bad, this large, white shaggy medieval type horse was rampaging in an enclosed space, then it got out and was pursuing me while I wildly steered some little open topped toy vehicle trying to get away from it. Well the rampaging horse won and next thing I knew it was in control sitting up front looking back at me spinning both toy vehicle and me faster and faster and faster...woke up all hot and sweaty, head clanging, blood pressure up. Figure the dream was just doing what dreams do and feeding back to me the very physical head sensations that where going on while I slept. Happens all the time. Anybody else?

hi nina

oh yes i have terrible dreams, they wake me from sleep, and then my heart is racing really bad for at least half hour, i dont know if the dream is causing my heart rate to go up or my heart rate is going up and causes me bad dreams......its really really scary....sometimes the dream involving dizzyness, is so bad in it i cannot see, only blurs of bright colours

take care

Gosh Brina don't I just know what you are talking about. I also couldn't fathom which was causing which, well still don't know really, but handle it much better now that I don't think I'm about to have a major stroke or something. Now, well now I just see it as a mental projection of what's happening physically. Also I'm on beta-blockers now, my only med., and only one a day, keeps my blood pressure under control and really helps with the pounding heart bit. I used to always wake with the rapid heart beat, up to 180 beats a minute and blood pressure above 220/120, ( I keep a blood pressure moniter beside the bed). Like you say scary, really scary. Also your experiences Emsybobs waking up thinking you're going to die, classic 'panic attack' symptom. I hate that term 'panic attack', particularly coming from doctors, they always manage to make it sound as though it's your fault. Well I disagree it is physiological rather than phsycological and the fact that people with a similar condition experience the same odd symptoms does help back that up, I think.

I was put on a beta-blocker to stop my constant migraines, but my Dr. told me not to take it anywhere near bedtime as it would couse nightmares. Are you on any med's?

I ahve the spinning and raing dreams as well. Aren't they horrible? It usually takes me a good hour to fall back to sleep. The dreams usually have to do with me running or moving, and I am di dizzy that I keep falling. At least I'm not alone!

Hi Ninamarie,

Yes, my dreams are quite bizarre to say the least. The other night I found myself in a Starsky and Hutch movie!! There I was running like mad, bullets flying everywhere, people being shot. Terrible stuff....I woke with my heart in my throat and was wound up for the rest of the night. I've never dreamed I was dizzy though or ill....I'm always my old self in the dreams.

Cheers.....Scott

That's interesting Karen, wasn't mentioned to me, though I know it's not the beta blocker that's doing it, has helped actually.

I am always my "ill dizzy" self in dreams. This morning I woke up with a startle - I was dreaming I was in a club qwith friends and was horrifically dizzy then the loud music set off ear symptoms and I got ultra loud fluttering in my ears. Woke up in a state!! xxx
