We are just starting this therapy with my 21 month old son who has been diagnosed with SID. So far, he loves it. I am wondering if anyone else is doing this therapy and how they feel about it? Has anyone noticed long term improvement? TIA

Hello,
I'm a Grandma of twin boys on the autism spectrum. The littlest, Tommy had very low muscle strength when he was born, especially upper body. He also had lots of sensitivity issues. He received brushing & joint compression. It worked great! He didn't like walking on grass, sleeping with a blanket on (we live in WI.) etc. He now sleeps with his sheet over his head and runs around without shoes. He has come so far. His speech has greatly improved. The twins turned 5 March 10. They have a younger brother Matt who is speech delayed too. He is almost 4. If you saw the latest program last week that is just like my daughters house!

Willbarger (as it's called) works great for my PDD daughter. At first she resisted a little, it was a new sensation. But after the first couple of trys, she really started to enjoy it. Doing it on a regular intensive schedule is effective, but also any time she's overstimulated, we get out the brush and do a round with joint compressions. It helps to calm her a lot, I highly recommend it.

Maybe we weren't doing it right but my son improved but then got worse during therapy.

This has worked wonders with my boys....Although they are 14 now we still keep the brush around and use it occassionally....

We did this for a time several years ago and it seemed to help.
