View Full Version : Anyone taking allergy shots?

I've been doing them almost a year now.... and they've been working great! I'm now down to monthly shots, and the only symptoms I have left is about a week before my next shots, I get the itchy throat/palate thing. Other than that, they seem to have worked really well thus far. I was one of those people who would sneeze so many times in a row my eyes would swell shut, and would end up getting bronchitis and asthma every spring. (And that was *with* antihistamines!) I've never smelled spring before now.... it smells great!

I'm allergic to most grasses and weeds, some trees and molds, dogs and cats, and dust.

Just wondering about the long term. What were your results after 3 or so years of taking them? I mean, are your allergies completely gone?

Thanks

OMG... I get my 1 1/2 month-long spring allergy every year.. usually april to about end of may. The past years I've been taking Claritin but it usually takes 3 weeks to kick my allergy away.

So last year I did a little experiment, on my allery season I DID NOT TAKE ANY MEDICINE. Surprisingly, it takes about the same amount of time (3 weeks) when my allergy goes away on its own.

So I guess I have been wasting $$ on expensive claritin. What I feel is that SEASONAL ALLERGY is indeed seasonal, it goes away on it's own, with or without medicine - thats why its called 'seasonal'.

My seasonal spring allergy includes:
1) itchy eyes with yellow-white sticky stuff ( i duno what that is or where it came from )
2) nose waterfalls
3) sneezing

Oh, I had seasonal allergies, all right.. unfortunately they were during MOST seasons!

I am sooooo glad I'm not taking meds anymore, the allergy shots work much better with no side effects!
