Does anyone know why TMJ causes numbness and loss of sensation in your arms and hands? Is it simply tense muscles? :bouncing:

I think it could be affecting some nerves. I know I get numbness in my cheek & lips from it.

Hi paxy!
Is it chronic or does it change everyday?

Muscle spasms in the face, neck, shoulders and even down into your upper back and chest will compress nerves and cause numbness and tingling.

If you haven't already had a Medical Doctor check these symtoms for other causes, you need to make sure nothing else is going on. Arm and hand numbness and tingling can be caused from many things.

If other causes have been ruled out, then muscle spasms is usually the cause.
Once the muscle spasms are alleviated, the nerves should stop responding to being compressed and the tingling and numbness should stop.
