Five years ago I had severe pain in my lower Spine and was in hospital for 3 weeks.Doctors diagnosed me with Chronic Vertebral Osteomylitis Septic Diskitis.Ten cc's of Bloody corruption was pulled from my Spine.Infection was so severe that it ate one of my Discs away but fused on its own.To this day,doctors along with myself have no idea what caused me to develop the Staph Infection.I have never abused or used illicit drugs nor do I have TB or other Infectious Diseases.It is one pain I never want to feel AGAIN!!Im a lucky lady to of came out with DDD,Bone Spurs and stiff back,it could of Paralyzed me,caused Bacterial Endocarditis or killed me.I took Antibiotics for 3 months via Subclavian Groshong Catheter and Orally.Anyone heard of the cause of Osteomylitis?

Welcome aboard. I have never heard of what you suffered from, But it sounds horrendous, And i will be interested to see any replys to this.

As you say lucky , But then you still have an alfull lot on your plate sweetie.

Yes Pebble's true Im lucky.I worry that I may get the infection again because the Infectious Disease doctor said it was chronic...He told me it could recur in weeks,months,or years.I NEVER want to go through that again...The pain was horrindous!!!Thanks for your reply..

Glad to finally find someone who has what sounds like what I went thru...I spent nearlly 3 months unable to move from my bed due to Osteomylitis in my Left Hip.
my problems started in April 2002 and I have just got out of hospital for the 3rd time and am currently on I.V each morning for 3-4 hours. I got the infection from catching Chicken pox when the spots broke I took the infection thru my skin and it seeded itself in my Hip...this was how it was explained to me by the Doctors. Ive looked thru sites for information and also have found that it can be re-ocurring so if you have information on how you were treated would be great information as I am on the NHS currently Im taking Vancomycin 1g, Gentamycin 80mg, Rifampicin300mg.
