I hear that weightlifting may be bad for CTS. But, I have also heard that exercises to strengthen the wrist may actually help the CTS problem and symptoms. I am wondering if light and moderate use of a dumbbell is good or bad for the problem?

My ortho told me to go ahead and lift when I asked him about it. I adore lifting and I just hated the thought of not doing it. I wear gloves and wrist supports and it seems to work pretty well.

I also use a resistance band which is easier on the hands than are dumbells.

Hope that helps some!

I have a friend who had CTS on both wrists and took a college strength class with me six months ago for general health. She found lifting did help strengthen the support muscles in the hands/wrists and wants to get back to it.
