I have a long distance relationship and only see my boyfriend every few months. In December I visited him and we had sex 4 or 5 different times. I visited him again at the beginning of April and we had sex about 7 or 8 different times. When I came home in April I noticed a strange discharge that wasn't present before. I went to see my doctor and I was diagnosed with Chlamydia. I didn't present any symptoms after the December encounters with him so I am under the impression that he didn't have it then. He says that he hasn't had any other sexual partners besides me since December. I had one other sexual partner but used a condom. Is it possible for him to have given me the infection in April but not in December? Or can I just assume that he picked up the infection from someone else and gave it to me after the first encounter I had with him in December? Sorry if this sounds confusing. Advice please!

Odds are that he gave it to you in April and he didn't have it in December. Sounds like you both had someone else in between, but he failed to use a condom when he strayed, while you did. Now, true, you may have been mis-diagnosed and there are other possibilities, but he needs to be told and as long as either of you are seeing others outside of each other, condoms need to used all the time.
