I have been trying to diagnose a feeling of something in my throat. The ENT did the nasal/throat scope and diagnosed acid reflux. He said there was some swelling. This feeling is high in my throat and I have considered tmj, seasonal allergies, etc. Any input appreciated. If this diagosis is correct, how long does it take to feel some relief from Nexium. I much prefer natural remedies, but will try this to get rid of that horrible feeling.
I have read much here about that being a common feeling, but this is in the upper throat, not like food stuck 'halfway'.

I dont get ANY symptoms of reflux, just have this feeling in the throat. It feels like something IN there, or something swollen pushing into my throat. The location is right where that scope irritated--high in the back of the throat or behind the tongue.. Mine is always in the left side of the throat. At least the scope gave me peace of mind on there being nothing THERE. If you've not had it before, it leaves you with a sore throat for about a day--not bad at all.

Debral...When you said scope ..you mean ENT doctor did the scope through your nose to see the back of your throat OR Endoscopy, the reason I ask because my Gastro doctor did the Endoscopy and she didn't see anything wrong, I don't get any symptoms of reflux either. Then my ENT scope down the back of my throat and he saw the imflamation in my voicebox...oops..I don't want to confuse you..just want to share some information..that's all

The scope was the through the nose one and he saw some swelling --I think of the muslce or cartilage surrounding the larnyx...

I have had this problem since last August (the feeling in the throat and sometimes a feeling behind my nose (like food is in there but it isn't) and I too was diagnosed with acid reflux. It has been very frustrating because eventhough I am feeling better (I'm still on Nexium) I can still get that horrible tightness in my throat out of the blue almost. Actually, if I bend over it will start it up sometimes and I never have heartburn either - just the annoying throat feelings that you have all described. It's discouraging when you think it has started to go away, but then comes back. I had an endoscopy too and also saw an ENT who saw swelling. Meanwhile, I keep taking the Nexium and I try to be somewhat careful about what I eat and how much I eat. When I eat a lot, it definitely gets worse. I know how annoying it feels, and I hope you can all find some relief.

also just wanted to add to this thread.... a feeling of something in your throat can also be a symptom of anxiety.... just incase you don't already know that...

I have this feeling as well. I have just started taking Prevacid (day 4). It starts after I eat, but like you it is near the back of my throat not in the middle. It almost feels like if I could burp a huge burp it would go away, but when I try to force a burp it makes it worse. MAMA2ACUTIE - You mentioned anxiety and I am wondering if that could be it. But would it happen after eating and then take a couple hours to subside and then it is lunch and so on and so forth for the entire day? Is this because the muscules in your neck/throat area are constricted?

It took me quite a while on Nexium before I felt like that feeling in my throat was better. I'd say it took a couple of months before I actually stopped noticing that feeling all the time. Even now, 9 months later, I am still taking Nexium and every now and then will have that feeling again - especially if I start eating too much, or if I bend over after I eat, etc. The frustrating part is that I never feel the acid burning my throat ( thank goodness) but I just get the tightness/something stuck feeling in my throat that will last for the rest of the day at least. It is very annoying so I know how you feel.
