I've had a pain in my right wrist for the past two weeks. The result from tightening down some hinges. I seem to have strained or pulled a nerve on the top part of my wrist. At least, I hope that is what it is. I've had this symptom before while putting strain on my hand/wrist but it has been very mild. This time, I overdid it.

I don't have the numbness or tingling feeling others describe. I don't have a problem sleeping or waking up with pain. In my case, my wrist only hurts when it is bent up or down. For example if I put my palms together and press against each other, I lose all strength in my right hand because of the pain. I would think a strain would have healed or at least the symptoms of a strain would have subsided but it hasn't.

So, my question is whether or not my problem falls along the symptoms of CTS, arthritis, or something else that is catching up with this 50 year old body?

Thanks

Hello
I'm just making a guess here but it sounds more to do with muscles, ligaments or tendons. Lots of people get tendinitis (sometimes spelled tendonitis) in their hands & there's a condition called DeQuervain's Tendinitis.Try typing these words into a search engine & maybe you'll find symptoms which match yours.

Of course, there's one sure way of finding out - best to see a doc because sometimes these conditions are made far worse by lack of medical attention.

Good luck.

Hi,,
This is my first post on this site-after browsing for dieting.

About 4 years ago I used to wake up in the morning with my right hand so swollen and sore with severe pins and needles I couldn't even manage to brush my hair. After suffering with this for about 4 weeks I went to the doctor and I was digonosed as having CTS-in my case it was caused by an infection as at the time I worked on a livery yard and we had quite alot of rats-the cause was the rats urine which had got on the straw which I used to lift up. I was given a cortisone injection in the back of my wrist and steroids and I've never had any more trouble since.

^carol,

If you don't mind me asking, how many cortisone shots did it take for you to fully heal with no residual effects? How did the doctor know it was due to an infection as the cause? I ask because I suspect that the nerve pains I have in my hands/arms and right leg may have also been through an infection. My last sexual encounter was with a girl who also used to keep rats and hamsters as pets.

I keep hearing that people's CTS symptoms only keep getting worse. Mines is subsiding a bit by bit day after day, but it is still there. I keep hoping it was just due to stress. But, I think it might be through a bacterial or fungal infection via sex. I am wondering if a cortisone shot and/or antibiotics may perhaps solve these pain problems I have been experiencing lately in my hands/arms/legs???
