I am almost 10 weeks post-op the Chrisman Snook recon with a calcaneal osteotomy due to chronic instability and cavus foot. I have now had four surgeries to correct my unstable ankle:
Jan 02- ankle arthroscopy w/thermal shrinkage
July 02- Brostrom repair
March 03- Brostrom revision
Feb 04- calcaneal osteotomy w/ chrisman- snook
Has anyone heard of getting osteomyelitis from these types of surgery. I have been running fevers for about 9 weeks now and have been on 6 different oral antibiotics. I just got diagnosed with osteomyelitis because I was at school in NC and parents brought me home for treatment cuz I wasn't getting the care I needed. My os, one of the best trauma ankle specialists ordered an indium bone scan and it was positive for osteomyelitis. I am having debridement surgery and screw removal on May 3. And then another debridement on May 5. There could be more, they won't know until they get in there. Later on will need a bone graft or will need to fill in the bone they are going to remove. Has anyone experienced this or know anything about it. I will also have a PICC line for 6 weeks.. Just trying to get some information.
