K I have a history of acid reflux when I am sick & can't eat for a while, then eat again, and when i'm on certain meds, like prednisone(I have asthma). Usually I can take Zantac and i'll feel better. The past few days, I have had weird horrible burning pain in my stomach, when I eat. It started with just when I ate chocolate, it would burn the second it got into my stomach. Over the past 3 days it's become all foods, the only foods I can tolerate are crackers and bread. It feels like a burning, with a kind of dull ache at times. Yesterday I slept for a few hours & when I woke up it was just the dull ache in my stomach. I tried taking Zantac..no help. It's not like acid reflux when the acid is in my throat burning hurting, it's all in my stomach. I'm getting frustrated as I feel so weak living on only crackers & bread..my asthma is suffering a bit also. I'm coughing a bit more(this is why I thougth acid reflux) and more short of breath. I tried mint tea(soothes all stomach problems I thought) but didn't help, which is weird, it usually does. What should I do? I'm soo hungry but my stomach hurts soo bad when I eat! =( What is going on & what can I do? any help is appreciated..thanks..

No I haven't even told my doctor about it yet, the acid reflux is normal(a side effect) for the amounts & kinds of meds I have 2 take sometimes 4 my asthma & it's only been going on for 3 days consistently. It's just been getting worse..crackers now cause a lot of pain & so does water=(

I really agree that you should see a doctor, just to make sure you don't have something more major going on. I was having similar problems, and could eat almost nothing, but I am so much better in the past couple of weeks. I began taking nexium, plus mastic gum and DGL (health food store) as well as 500 mg. of magnesium and L-Glutamine. I pretty much quit taking any other supplements until I started to feel better. I also quit eating anything raw, and began juicing green veggies like spinach, celery, cucumbers, etc. in my blender, watered it down by 75% and drink it a couple of times a day. In about two weeks I am back to where I can eat almost anything with no problem. In the meantime, I ate a lot of rice, too, with some butter and salt, as well as some organic soups like butternut squash, potato, and broccoli. I hope you get it figured out soon!

I just got back from the doctor..she thinks it's acid reflux, and I need to take acid reflux medication daily for 7-10 days, then see how things are. They did a urine sample and I guess they found blood & protein so they sent it out..I hope that doesn't mean anything..sorry to be so gross..but anyways if the acid reflux meds don't work then she thinks it's a stomach infection. thanks for all the advice i'm gonna try a bland diet and the aciphex and see what happens in the next week.

I would also try the mastic gum and magnesium along with the aciphex if you don't get pretty immediate relief. It won't hurt anything as far as I know to combine the natural supplements with the meds, which is what many people do. The magnesium is almost a miracle according to many who have acid reflux and ulcers. Hope you are feeling a whole lot better soon! It's horrible not to be able to eat when you're hungry! I can really relate! :)
