View Full Version : Inner ear symptoms

I have read so much about inner ear problems but I seem to be always missing some key symptoms. My dr has never suggested an inner ear problem but I thought I would see what you all thought.

I am so unbalanced I am walking into things, I have had a couple bouts of dizziness(so severe I could not stand, it was better when I was laying down.)
But the dizziness is rare.
On occassion, my ears will pop and I will have tempory hearing loss(not complete loss), with a ringing in my ears. I also will have ringing in my ears WITHOUT the popping/hearing loss. I get nausious quite often, and my eyesight is often blurred or unfocused(I can't focus in on anything). I have had my eyes checked, and there is no problem there.
I know I am missing a few other things, I will add them if I think of them. The thing that bothers me the most is the loss of balance....

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Abby

Hi Abby

You don't say what tests you have had, MRI, ENG, Etc...or what specialty your Doc is, GP, Internist, ENT, etc....

And I see you have been reading up(you say) on inner ear probs---but I list this site just in case you missed it:

(preapproved by Mod1)

http://www.opt.pacificu.edu/ce/catalog/COPE7282/Dizzy.html

I would assume---from all the reading you say you have been doing---that you are well aware that the specialist that you need to see is a Nuerotologist---any one else---is usually a waste of time and $$

Abbeygirl don't wait for your doctor to suggest it's an ear problem, he/she may never think of it, you suggest it. "Doctor do you think this could be an inner ear problem"? Regardless of the response, say, "well I would like to consult a neurotologist"; explain why a neurologist and not an ENT (from the info you've learned via the board & Internet). There can be many possible causes for dizzyness, sometimes it's a question of elimination. Doctors don't always think of all of them, sometimes they don't know all the possible reasons. So take the lead.

Abby, balance has been my major problem too, for 13 months now. I concur
that you should first see a neurotologist. He will want to eliminate the nasties
by scheduling you for an MRI, blood tests. Take Ginko Biloba for vertigo. It's great.
I will check in with you later and discuss my symptoms to hopefully make you feel
a bit better. This is difficult to live with! Shay
