mama2acutie 04-26-2004, 04:30 PM what are your symptoms? Sponsor mama2acutie 04-26-2004, 04:39 PM also what kind of test do they do to find out how your GB is functioning? suzyshop1 04-27-2004, 01:48 AM Hida scan with cck. mama2acutie 04-27-2004, 01:49 AM what is a hida scan? i guess maybe i should look it up LOL. suzyshop1 04-27-2004, 01:52 AM Yeah look it up ,a website could better explain it then i can.Now if you want to know exactly what they do when they do one ,that i can tell you about cause ive had 2 done. :bouncing: mama2acutie 04-27-2004, 01:56 AM yes please let me know what they do! BTW do you have a dysfunctional GB? if so what were your symptoms? suzyshop1 04-27-2004, 02:13 AM If you dont have ibs the procedure will be fairly easy for you.Unless you have a fear of a needle.I cant go into the technical aspect of what happens in what part of your body when they do the test.A website can do that better and more accurate. What i can tell you is be prepared to be there for at least and hr to 2 hrs. They will get you to lay on a table pull this big machine over you that looks like and xray machine. They put a iv in your arm .The arm with the iv hangs over the side of the bed.You have to lay completely still. They inject something into the iv to make it showup better on the pictures. They scan you for a bit. Then they inject cck into the iv to get your gall bladder to contract. Most ppl will react to the cck if theres a gall bladder problem. Then they continue to scan you for a bit more then your done.Ive been sick for a yr with symptoms that mimic gall bladder disease. My first test looked like that might be my problem ,but the second test came out normal. So now the search is still on.Hope ive answered your questions well enough.Take care. :bouncing: mama2acutie 04-27-2004, 12:16 PM so if you do have IBS the procedure isn't easy? so it makes the GB contract? that sounds uncomfortable.... what about if you have gallstones? suzyshop1 04-27-2004, 07:44 PM I have ibs and it makes it very uncomfortable for me to have to sit or lay still for any long period of time.I also have bowel spasms ,neither one am i on meds for.As for the what the gall bladder contracting feels like ,that i cant tell you about.Mainly because the doctors are saying im normal. There are some ppl on this board who have had the hida scan which showed they had a gall bladder problem. You would probably be better off reading there posts to better understand what you might feel durning this test.Take care. mama2acutie 04-27-2004, 09:55 PM thanks Suzy! suzyshop1 04-28-2004, 12:49 AM Your very welcome mama2acutie. |
