Hey out there: I was wondering if anyone else has been diagnosed with allergies to FD&C Red #40 and Yellow #5? I recently had to undergo 30 days of IV antibiotics with a PICC line because EVERY SINGLE antibiotic has one or both of these dyes. Apparently, the human race is incapable of finishing a round of antibiotics unless they're pink  That is what I was told, anyway. I have heard of three other poeple in my smallish Pennsylvania town who've had to have the same treatment for the same reason, and I wondered if it was something that was becoming more common. If it is, maybe we should contact someone, or something?

I have an allergy to yellow#5 and also to blue #1. It causes itching all over my body. I was on zoloft for a while and had itching all the time and it was due to my pill being yellow. Went off of it and itching subsided. I also have multiple chemical sensitivities. I was on clarinex for my allergies and that also made me itch because my pills was blue.

I'm sorry to hear about the blue...I have asthma, and Mucinex is the only drus that helps with congestion...it's blue. Thank heaven I don't get that horrid rash with that. But I know bout the itching. I recently took a replacement drug for my GERD...Rabeprazole, which had Yellow #5 in it. I have spent the day on Allegra 180 as well as benadryl topical to help the itching. I also tend to get very nauseated when I injest either dye. My point is this: the human race can handle white pills! It makes me very angry to have to get stuck with a an iv needle evey 2-3 days just because Bayer can't find a way pf making penicillin white! My veins are scarred, and it's getting harder and arder to find a viable vein for the iv. HELP!!!
