I realize claritin is "Non drowsy", but can it just plain keep you awake? I took it today at about 2 pm here it is, 3 am...and I cannot sleep. I think it is the claritin, but wasn't sure. Any insight would be helpful. Thanks.

I sometimes take claritin for my hayfever. I have never been more awake or drowsy when I take it. I have never heard anything about it but
maybe it can interact differently with different people's systems so maybe there's something in it that interacted with something in your body or something that you ate/drank that is now keeping you awake. Is this the frst time you have taken it? Did you do or take anything differently today, other than the claritin? Try and not take claritin for a few days and see if this happens. Then try and take it again and see if this occurs. If it does then obviously it's probably something to do with the claritin. This could just be one of those nights when you just aren't tired or sleepy. I have those nights sometimes. I'd go see a doctor if this sleeplessness becomes a regular thing.

I have found that the Claritin-D (with decongestant) keeps me awake at night. The regular claratin does not affect my sleep.

hmmm..yeah, i cannot take anything with a d behind it because it makes me shaky and I lose sleep. I am pregnant, so that could have something to do with it. I have dealt with insomnia my whole life, but last night just seemed worse than usual. I did not take one today and I won't until I talk to my doc again. I heard flonase works, anyone with any info on flonase?
