Went to the doctot yesterday for allergies. Got hooked on Afrin last month which I got a stern "talking to" about NOT using. Anyway he gave me 2 steroid shots to clear me out faster he says. Ok I'm fine with that but was not informed of any possible side affects. Fell asleep about 10:30 last night and woke up about 2 hours later and haven't been back to sleep yet. Also my face is beet red and i feel like I'm on fire. very hot!! help if anyone knows anything about this.

I had bad side effects from prednisone. I could not sleep at night or day and also had the flushing. My moods was terrible and I ended up in a stress center while they took me off the prednisone. I was having surges of the adrenal gland. This was a living nightmare. I was on 80 mg's which is a very high dose. Now I am on the eye drops and just put in a post to see if the steriods can get into the blood system. I never want to go through what I went through. My heart rate also went up to 200 beats a minute because off this and ended up callinng an ambulance. I do believe the shots are time released. I wish you luck and if you think these problems are from the shot I would call the Dr. that gave the shot to you.

I have never taken the shots but I have done the oral medications of prednisone, moderate & high doses. When I did the high dose(60mg a day) I had major face flushing which is weird cuz I NEVER turn red, not when i'm burned, when i'm nervous, sick, nothing. Also it does make your heart beat crazy high numbers..I've spent so many sleepless nites from prednisone. It can also cause an upset stomach/acid reflux. These side effects are normal parts of a terrible drug/miracle drug... don't worry about it.

Thanks for the info..I also had heartburn yesterday which I rarely get so all this MUST be from the shot. Now am on a decongestant and didn't sleep well last night either. Feel like a zombie today!! My heart did not beat fast that's about the only side effect I haven't had. How long will this junk stay in my system?? The thing that really sucks is I agreed to the shot cause he said it would clear me up fast.....still stuffed up!!!!

Steroids have lots of nasty side-effect

tendinopathy
joint pain
yadda yadda...
I would stay away from them unless absolutely necessary.

chiggins is right i'm surprised they gave you prednisone shots for sinus problems. Since the drug has so many nasty side effects I think it should only be saved for life threatening or could possibly turn into life threatening situations. I refuse to take it unless..well..usually my parents force me into it(i'm still not 18 so whatever the doctor says, if my parents say yes, I have no say really). It's not a drug to be taken lightly it can have some really serious side effects for some people.

I was miserable for years. Tired, cloudy vision, not able tu breath trough my nose, PND, shortness of breath, *****,full head and ears, dizzy...
Three months ago had CT of the sinuses. Found out I have chronic sinusitis (polyps, ethmoid and maxillary sinus mucosal thickening, levodeviation of the nasal septum).
Went to an allergist. Skin test came out negative?!?
Two weeks ago an ENT put me on MethylPREDNISolone 4mg for six days,
LEVAQUIN 500mg for 30 days (steel taking Levaquin) and Rhinocort Aqua nasal spray.
I don't have side-effects at all. I feel better 80%.

Prednisone will make you feel better, but be careful. I was on prednisone twice this year, along with Avelox and Levaquin. I didn't develop nasty side-effects until I was off the Prednisone.
I now have chronic pain in my wrists, carpal-tunnel syndrome, skin manifestations (prickly rash on the palms), aching in my calves and ankles.
I will NEVER go near any of those drugs again. I've been off them for a month, and I'm still feeling the effects.
You should look into getting the Polyps removed.

OK here is my two cents.
I had severe sinus probs for almost a year and was on all kinds of antibiotics. i took prednosone for 6 days to reduce swelling before i had sinus surgery. i hated hated them. i couldnt sleep at all, felt like my heart was racing, and that i was in a mood worse than pms plus being out of it because i got no sleep. if there is another option, i suggest it.

How about nasal steriod sprays? Has anyone had bad side effects from them.
