I am almost 32 years old. I have had endometriosis for 11 years. I had 2 laparoscopies---8 and 10 years ago. My periods have always been irregular--meaning one month 25 days, next month could be up to 36 days. (between first day of my last period and the start of the next) They have been like this ever since I started having periods, when I was 13 years old. Over the last year, I have noticed some changes. I always stopped on day 3 of my period, and resumed to a normal period days 4-6. Last year, it changed. I can have a period and stop all together after day 3....or if I resume on day 4--it can be regular, or real light and having nothing at all on day 5 or 6---or I will have my normal period---stopping after day 3 and resuming days 4-6 like I always have. Ok, I went to the GYN this year for my pap---I usually am lazy about this and go about every 4 years, but I decided to go this year after only 2 years (thank goodness!). My pap came back abnormal. So, I had to be scheduled for a colposcopy, but had to postpone that for a couple of weeks, because for some odd reason, I didnt have a period during March. I was soooo miserable with pain and swelling for 2 weeks. (I have NEVER missed a period before, except when I was pregnant). After being so late, (I think day 45), I went to the GYN and they gave me Provera. It worked after 3 days of taking it (which is why I had to postpone the colposcopy). The pain and swelling diminished. I went for my colposcopy.....so far, so good. But they done a biopsy of my cervix, since they couldnt see inside the cervix. Am awaiting those results. About 4 days after stopping my period, (and 3 days before the Colposcopy) the pain and swelling returned.....it varies. It is a heaviness feeling in my lower abdomen and constant aching feeling...both in my abdomen and in my low back....or cramping in my left side around my ovary, and in my lower left side of the back, with the aching still present. Thinking I may have a cyst that the PA-C didnt detect, I called to see if they would do an ultrasound the next day...instead, they wanted me to come in that day---to see the actual Dr. He didnt feel anything...found tender areas, but nothing that felt like cysts. He is wanting to do another laparoscopy---which I am fine with, and had even asked the PA-C about it a few weeks ago, but she felt it would not benefit me. As far as the "normal" endo pain I experience, its usually a week before I start, I may bloat a little, not bad, and just dull achiness in my abdomen, enough to realize that that time of the month is near, but not enough to ruin my life....and all discomfort ends the very first day of my period......this that I am experiencing now....it is awful! Swelling to where I really feel like I am going to explode, and the pain is worse than I have ever experienced. I have been like this daily now for almost 2 months. Does anyone have any idea what could be going on??? The GYN dr is assuming that its the endometriosis, which is why we are doing the LAP--to go in and burn out any endo. Could there be more wrong with me than anyone is suspecting??? Since all of this is happening so quick, I cant help but worry that something is wrong...given that my pap was abnormal..even though nothing has been found yet....and wont know anything about the biopsy for at least a few more days..up to another week. Any replies would be appreciated.
