Hey! I just got back from having my pap and I explained to my doctor that I have been bleeding during intercourse and he said that my birth control pills have made some cells in my cervix "bunch up" and now they are protruding out of my cervix, which is causing the bleeding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Has anyone EVER heard of this?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! I asked him if I stopped taking my birth control if it would stop and he gave me another rx for more and told me that there is no gurantee that they would go back in. What in the h*ll do I do!?!?!?!?!?!??!??!?!?!?!?!?!??????????? ??????????????????????????????????

HI KIm--

I would seek a second opinion. I have never heard of this (doesn't mean it is not possible). But I personally would feel better with another doctor's opinion.

Jeesh, Kim! This sounds soooooooooo iffy...I'd call the guy back and demand more info. OR get a second opinion.

My cousin's wife is a physician (one who thinks of her patients as part of her family and not another file on her desk) & I think I'm going to ask her about it; maybe have her do some blood work on me. I've NEVER heard of an "overgrowth" of cells like that due to too much estrogen in birth control pills!!!

I did read just recently that the estrogen in birth control pills causes your body not to properly use folate vitamins which is very vital to fighting cancer (all types). So this might explain why the doctor is contributing it to birth control pills. I would research it on the internet, and get a second opinion. Doctor's don't know EVERYTHING.

I spoke with my cousin's wife over the weekend and she told me that it can happen & I believe it's called endometrium. I will have it cauterized as soon as I can . . .
