I posted this thread on the bowel disease board but had no response, then I came to IBS board and read alot of threads and wondered wether I may have IBS.

I normally have a totally normal bowel movement first thing in the morning, then 20 minutes later I will have watery diarrhoe and maybe 10 minutes later again, then nothing else for the whole day.

Very occasionally I will have bouts of worse watery diarrhoe after eating in the evenings.

I don't get stomach pain or gas, I have been following the Atkins and this 'may' have something to do about it.

I have no blood in my stools (tested).

I am wondering no pain, no blood, just watery diarrhoe, wether worth seeing gp about, and what else could be going on

It could be a number of things causing the diarreah. Since you've changed your way of eating with a new diet that could be a the cause. Irritable Bowel Syndrome is generally accompained by some degree of abdominal pain more likely than not.

Best advice I can give you is to go see your GP doc. and if he can't find out what's causing the problem he might refer you to a gastro doc. Good luck and keep us posted.

A loose watery stool usually means that you are not intaking enough of the right kind of fiber in your diet. You need the type of fiber that absorbs fluid. A water soluble fiber supplement like psyllium may just work.-- And blk up your stool.

As you may know all fiber is not the same. Some that does not absorb water just passes through and causes a watery stool for some people particularly if they are on a diet that contains alot of veggies that contain cellulose--- leafy and even nuts.

It does not sound like IBS!! Read about the symptoms of IBS in the thread at the top of this Board--- The Rome Criteria!!!
