View Full Version : getting older or a problem?

I'm 33 years old and as long as I can remember my stomach has always been very gurgly. My stomach almost always gurgles after I eat just about anything and even when I'm not hungry. A couple of years ago I began getting heartburn after eating hot dogs and any kind of sausage. I also constantly burp after eating these foods. I wrote the heartburn off to getting older and I try to avoid these foods. More recently another problem has arisen. Any time I eat any food that is spicy, my stomach instantly goes into major gurgle mode and within an hour I have diarrhea. I also experience gas A LOT but haven't been able to pinpoint the cause of it. I have been trying to convince myself that this is just another sign of getting older but am beginning to think it could be something else. I don't want to go to the doctor and have him think I am crazy but if there is a problem I want to get it taken care of. I can't imagine not being able to eat spicy foods for the rest of my life! Just wondering if anyone has any ideas what this could possibly be and if these symptons warrant a doctor visit. Thanks!!!!

Do you only get heartburn when you eat sausages and hotdogs ,or do you have a problem with heartburn at other times? As for the diahrrea does any certain food you eat seem to bring it on?Are you lactose intolerant?

I don't get heartburn often, pretty much only with sausage and hot dogs, sometimes other foods affect me but I can't think of any specific ones at this time. I only have a problem with diarrhea when I eat any spicy foods. As for being lactose intolerant, I'm not sure. I have sometimes wondered if I am. I have recently started to notice that a lot of times after eating cheese or drinking milk, I get a bit gassy, but I'm not sure if that is a sign of being lactose intolerant. Thanks again for any help :)
