Once I thought I had a cold and it wasn't till my roommate suggested that maybe it was allergies that I stopped treating it with cold meds. Since then, I've been to my general doctor to ask about whether I have allergies. I was hoping for a test to find out if in fact I had allergies and if so, what I am allergic to. But the doctor didn't function that way, instead she just prescribed flonaze and allegra. I took the allegra for a bit, but didn't continue.
Now my symptoms continue. I have difficulty breathing, and I feel like my nostrils are not large enough. If I take my fingers and widen them out, I can breathe fine, but as soon as I let them go, it's back to diffculty breathing. I have to breathe through my mouth and this is very uncomfortable.

Can anyone say whether this is a symptom of allergies?

Could be inhalent allergies causing a swelling inside nose. Have you tried "Afrin" or other nose drops or sprays that will open it up?

Using saline solution to clean out sinuses is a good idea too.

Taking an anahistimine with deconjestant should clear the nasal passages.

Inhalent allergies? Hmm, I'll have to do some research on that. I have not tried Afrin or any other nasal sprays. I hear they are highly addictive.

I'll have to try the anahistamine with decongestant.

Yes, inhalent allergies can be caused by fungus, mold, tree pollen, grasses, flowers, and many more. Plants pollen does not happen all at one time, it is usually spread out. About the time one that bothers you stops another one will appear or more than one at a time.

Allergies to perfume, after shave lotion, and household items can also cause problems.

Keep watch on the weather where they give the pollen count and you will soon discover which things are bothering you the most.

Yes, Afrin can be addictive, but, using it once in a while until you can get the swelling down in nose won't hurt. Beconase and Flonase prescription nasal sprays help a lot when you have allergies.
