No, I've had the opposite: well functioning gall bladder but with stones, and have had many minor pains, nausea (no vomiting) and one or two big-time pain incidents. There are so many variables with gall bladder disease that people tend to have different symptoms, and the same person can have different symptoms each time.

For example, one young woman I work with had hers removed; so did her mother, her sister AND her brother. All four suffered greatly first, but all had different symptoms from each other. Go figure. No wonder this is such a difficult thing to diagnose.

What exactly are your symptoms if you haven't had any pain?

I had a nonfunctioining gallbladder.. I did have pain.. but didnt sound to be as bad as to what others who have had the painfull attacks.. I do believe that years ago I had the worse pain ones.. but over the last few years, just more of a stomach discomfort, some pain and nausea feeling all the time, chest pain, and just didnt feel good.. All my trips to the Dr.. my gallbladder was never mentioned as the problem until just a couple months ago.. i just had my gallbladder removed about a week ago.. wish i could say i was one of the ones with out the pain during recovery.. surgery really knocked me down.. but guess in long run all will be better...
