I found a tiny lump on the edge of my breast last night and am a little concerned about it. It is so small that I cannot imagine it being much of anything, but I suppose it will need to be checked, just in case. At first I thought it was an insect bite, but then I realized it was under the skin and not on top of it. It is right along my bra line, on the outside edge of the breast tissue.

Any thoughts? I have lumpy, bumpy breasts, but have never felt anything like this before. It is hard, like a dry pea. It is not sore or anything, though.

Do I need to have this checked out?

Thanks,
Ramona

Hi Ramona - I read your post with great interest..... I'll tell you a story about a friend of mine - she too noticed a lump but for some reason thought it was part of her rib cage and didn't pay much attention to it. She finally made her annual OB/GYN appointment and during the breast exam he noticed the same lump and sent her directly to have a mammogram. Within 24 hours she was in the hospital having a masectomy because she did have breast cancer. Fortunately for her it had not spread. This story is not meant to scare you but to make you stop and think - if it's a lump wouldn't it be best to get it checked to be on the safe side? Peace of mind is priceless. Let me know how everything turns out. Take Care....Scarlett

I have the same type of bump, very tiny. It reminds me of a pimple that has not fully formed only that it has been there for about 5-6 months already. I know shame on me for never getting it checked out, I just didn't think it was anything of real concern. Thanks for both of your post, I will be calling my doctor for a appointment!

It may be just a cyst that goes away after your peroid. If you are close to that time of the month, you can probably wait a few weeks and see if it goes away. If it doesn't go away though, make sure you have it checked out. I have had cysts many times. Sometimes they go away on there own, but not always. Good luck to you and keep us up to date.

Thank you, ladies, for your replies. This has worked out very strangely, actually. I noticed Saturday night that when I poked on it just a bit, some white stuff came out, so I was relieved to think that it was a pimple or something, rather than breast related (although that was an odd place for a pimple). However, as the days went on it got bigger and bigger and became very painful. Last night it woke me up and I had a real hard time getting back to sleep.

Sooooo, off to the doc today. Guess what he thinks it is?! An insect bite! I am struggling to think of when I might have been bitten and by what, but I am so very relieved to hear this. I am on antibiotics, as it is infected, and warm compresses 3x a day and I hope and pray that will take care of it.

I only wish all of those lumps and bumps that we find could be so easily resolved.... :(

Again, thanks for your input. I DO need to have that yearly exam done that is way past due, though, so maybe this will prompt me to get that done...

Blessings to you all,
Ramona

i have a question. I am a male, 16 years of age going on 17 in 2 months. I have a farely large lump in my right chest right under my nipple. It makes my chest look awkward. The one with the lump in it looks like it has a lump in it. Also, it hurts when it gets touched. I often have to squeeze and play with it alot so i get used to the pain. I had it since i was 13. I thought it was cancer and last year i thought i would die and i lived without a care. but i recently found God and i just want to get rid of it. Do you have any idea what it might be?
