Well i'm new here, and 15 yr old male. I've been getting worked up at the possibility of some type of lymphoma. I have had general large nodes for...well as long as i can remember, probably for at least 4 years. I thought nodes were SUPPOSED to be this size until i read they should be the size of a pea. Well my smallest is probably 1/4inch and my largest is probably 3/4 inch. I can feel them everywhere. They do not interfere with breathing, moving or anything like that. I have no other symptoms besides a few weeks ago i was itching for maybe 2 days straight...however i believe it was due to anxiety of a tournament i was going to compete in. I'm thinking about going to the doctor to get some reassurance...or just to find out what it is. Maybe some people just have big nodes? They are all movable, and nontender, and I feel them alot just cause I am obsessing over it. I have slight asthma and my allergies have been kidna bad lately. I even have a preauricular node(at least i think its a node) which is palpable. ( However i feel that almost every day and press it real hard...I am trying to stop that however) replies would be appreciated, thanks.

They are responding to allergens that would make you sick if they did not do their job. But, see your doctor to make sure that everything else is ok.

If you had those for 4 years with no change, and especially considering your age, I'm pretty much convinced they are not a place for concern. It's not necessarily true that everyone has pea-sized nodes; well, most doctors will tell you that "in most completely healthy individuals" their nodes could hardly be felt and are pea-sized. I don't think that's entirely true. Some people definitely have naturally bigger nodes than others, I don't know if they were born like that or if their body have some kind of tendency to react this way to different factors during their lifetime. Sometimes, nodes which have enlarged due to infectious causes can presist for a while even after the infection has been resolved. That would be more significant in skinny people, as their nodes are normally more noticeable and easier to feel.
So, anyway, back to your case. Allergies can definitely cause nodes to enlarge and perhaps persist if you are continuously exposed to their stimulating agents. Not sure about asthma, but possibly as well.
After all, it can be helpful to see your family doc concerning your health issues. and in this opportunity, you can ask him or her about your nodes too, even if you know they are most likely normal. What do you need doctors for anyway, if not to treat health problems and ease your mind when needed?
