Hello everyone.
I am on my fifth week of twenty four and I have a question about dosage.
My first four injections were with the vial type of peg where you have to draw the dosage.
They were 180/1mg and the new prefilled syringes are 180/0.5
Why the discrepancy between the two?
Also the first four shots actually made me feel ok but this last shot with the new
pre filled has got me feverish and aching all over.
Any info on these confusing numbers would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, RedX
PS I hope everyone is feeling better than me today *sighs*

Please call your doctor about this!! Also please let us know about the -exact- measurements of the dose! You may be getting twice the dose!
I called the Pegasys assist number and the Nurse informed me
thats it's the same amount of Pegasys but in a higher concentration.
Evidently the vial has more liquid than the pre-filled syringe but both
have 180 micro grams of Pegasys.
Hang in there everyone !

I have similar experience - even worse.
My doc gave me different type of Interferon (!) and once even expired one (!!). It was not on purpose, he is simply confused. But I have had a good luck that i have noticed that.
So - one recommendation for all:
Always check the box and be sure, that it looks EXACTLY as your "old" package, and
check the expiration date as well - some IFN doesnt last too long!
Good luck!

I had the same change about a month before the end of treatment. Same info from program nurse; the dose is the same just the fillers are less. I much prefered the prefilled versus the vials. I wish I had received the prefilled injectables a lot sooner.
Hang in there. The side effects are the pits but the alternative is worse. I finished my 48 week treatment and am virus free for the first time in 30 years.
Resist pain meds untill it gets bad. Just be aware that you'll probably get dependent but it's still better than the alternative, shorter life. Besides, you probably won't die from pain med withdrawals. I'm doing ok at kicking the pain meds and getting better.
A couple of things that will help. Massages (not necessarily from a professional, just someone to rub your feet, legs, and back) and hot soaks. When I started using a hot tub the pain was a lot more tollerable.
Good luck, it's worth it.

i dont know a thing about the prefilled stuff. i know that i was confident that the powder i used was not too old to be expired.
do you have to keep the prefilled refrigerated?
