For the last three months, my bp was constantly at 111/83. I haven't changed the meds and now it's 112/87. Why is my diastolic pressure rising? I'm exercising the same...eating the same. Is this cause for alarm? What does this increase mean?

Michelle,
BP fluctuates all the time. Have you been getting 87 consistently over weeks? days? One or two days only?
I wouldn't be too concerned if you get a diastolic spike once in a while.
How's the weight loss going?

It's been constant for about a week now. I've even tried increasing my med. (I was the one who was taking 1/4 pill every six hours...) I took a half-a-pill this morning...no change whatsoever.
The weight loss isn't coming off has fast as I would like. I haven't given up on my exercising (40 minutes of speedwalking four times a week.) Though the occasional cookie gets past my mouth  I feel better though. More energy and happier.
But, more blood pressure is worrying me. I'm taking the damn thing like five times a day. I keep getting 112/87. Argghhh!
Should I be worried?

Michelle,
Seems like you're working yourself into panic mode a bit. STOP!
Your diastolic is by no means at a critical level.
Upping your dose this morning would not necessarily show improvement so soon.
Would love to see you NOT have to split your pills like this....You might get far more effective BP control with a simpler regimen and/or a different drug.
Are you still on methyldopa?
Just to calm you down a little, the systolic # is a far more important indicator of future cardiovascular risk...and your systolic is textbook gorgeous.
Continue to monitor yourself for a couple of weeks, perhaps only 3 times a day and do it at the same time each day. Don't forget to take it 1/2 hour before or after food, cigs or exercise. Arm limp and relaxed on table, feet on floor (UNCROSSED), back supported as well.
If you still see systolic climbing, maybe a change in meds will do the trick. Right now you really should not be panicking.
I mean it.:nono:

Thanks Zuzu. Again, you've made me feel so much better. You are a really caring and giving person. As far as I'm concerned, you are Queen Hypertension! :jester:
I will follow your advice. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
