About 2 years ago I was diagnosed with ulnar nerve entrapment, and I'm just now following up with corrective surgery (I was also diagnosed with a colloid cyst of the 3rd ventricle, and it took priority). I'm scheduled for surgery on 5/21. What is recovery like (I'm a wimp when it comes to pain)? How long before I'm able to use the arm again (it is on my dominant arm, and I'm a programmer - lots of typing).

Also, some years ago my sister underwent the same surgery, and they discovered a schwannoma (sp?) in her arm. What is the likelihood of me having the same problem?

Thanks!

I've had the surgery but it was not successful as we waited too long and the Dr nicked the ulnar branch. I have ulnar lesions bilateral and it is common in ulnar entrapment and usually benign. I'm still left with painful middle and ring finger that feel like sausages with sensory problems and still in rehab after a year. Mine went into RSD and that doesn't mean you will. As for your sister I don't think it is likely you to have the same thing but I'm no Dr and stranger things do happen.
