I have had a low grade, recurring fever and fatigue for the last week and a half. I have also been nauseated but have not vomited. I have been to the doctor twice and a CBC and blood cultures were gathered and were basically negative, expect for neutrophils that were a tad high. My fever gets to about 100.8 consistently. I break it with ibuprofen but it is getting more stubborn and harder to break. I have been prescribed doxycycline as I was in Texas the week before this started and they suspected a tick bite, though I have no rash or other apparent symtoms of a tick bite. Excpet for wicked diarrhea, I can handle the the doxy. I'll take it if it makes me better.
I am a my wits end. I do not know what to do next. The doctors will just tell me "I don't know". I don't grudge them for that but should I get another opinion?

Whatever it is, I just posted here about it. My d-in-law, hubby & i have all had this for about 3 weeks now. Some kind of virus that is hard to get rid of. Today we all had fever, chills & nausea, this is 3 weeks after we all started with diahrea.

So I am not alone. I live in Wisconsin but I know I picked this up out west. I actually almost feel OK this morning, but I have felt better before and I juts end up getting that fever again. I am not much of a whiner but i am usually never sick so this got me a bit concerned. I hope you and your family get over this soon.

A couple years ago I was sick with similar symptoms (sore throat, fatigue, low fever, swollen lymph nodes, headaches, general unwell feeling) for about six weeks. I was tested for mono twice & strep. Drs. were unsure - said it was probably mono that just tested negative. Finally it went away. Following year, same time of year, it started again. Went to a different dr - diagnosis - ragweed allergies! Would never have thought allergies could have made me so sick - especially out of the blue, I have had allergy problems in the past but nothing remotely close to that. Don't know if that's your problem but maybe another direction to explore. Hope you feel better soon.
